GPR-derived snow depth profiles in Revdalen valley, Hornsund, Svalbard – Spring 2022

Summary

This dataset contains snow depth measurements derived from Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) surveys conducted in the Revdalen valley near the Polish Polar Station Hornsund, Svalbard. The survey was performed on 28-29 April 2022. The work was funded by the SIOS Snow Pilot project.

Content

  • 2 ZIP-archives with RAW and processed snow sounding profiles
  • Number of profiles: 11 GPR profiles
  • Instrument: MALA ProEx GPR system with a high-frequency antenna (1.6 GHz)

Processed files

  • Processed profiles using ReflexW software: .00R and .00T
  • Picked snow depth horizons, ReflexW format: *.PCK
  • Picked snow depth horizons, ASCII format

Processing

Raw radar data were processed in ReflexW software to identify snow-ground interfaces. Snow depth horizons were manually picked and exported as ASCII tables for further analysis.
